The name OK Construction was chosen not because the quality of work provided is just "ok," but because Okonek (Ock-on-ek) is hard for people to pronounce and spell. Company owner Jerry Okonek was raised on the shores of Big McKenzie Lake, where he grew up farming and helping his parents take care of their resort.
After graduating from Spooner High School, he attended WITI in Rice Lake, majoring in Wood Tech, which is the current Residential Construction & Cabinet Making program. In 1981, he started OK Construction and incorporated in 2001. Projects range in size from decks, home additions/remodels to expansive homes and commercial buildings. During his career, he has established strong ties with the subcontractors that he uses for excavating, masonry, HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
Jerry strongly believes in giving back to the community. As a way to do that, he serves as an Advisor for the WITC Wood Tech program and is a member of the Polk-Burnett Electric Co-op board representing District 7. Previously he was a member of the Scott Volunteer Fire Department having served as Fire Chief for 24 years.
